Monteagle Sunday School Assembly

Monteagle Sunday School Assembly, Monteagle, Tennessee

Monteagle Sunday School Assembly was created in 1882, and was modeled after  Chautauqua, New York, a community developed to train Sunday School teachers in the 1870s.  Since the 1880s Monteagle has grown to include 161 cottages and 18 public buildings built prior to 1930 (a link to the Tennessee Encyclopedia entry for this site can be accessed here).  In the Spring of 2010, I was commissioned to work as an architectural surveyor on the renomination of this district to the National Register for Historic Places.  In all I surveyed, documented, and wrote descriptions for twenty-five properties at the MSSA (see embedded descriptions below).
